Affiliate Marketing Best Practices

Dos

  • Focus On Benefits Over Features In Your Ad Campaigns:  What Problem Does The Product/Service Solve  -  People connect with benefits of a product over features.  They want to know how it will solve a problem in their everyday lives.  How will your affiliate product benefit their everyday lives and save them time?

  • Use Branding In Your Ad Campaigns - It is extremely rare that a single ad will get a customer to purchase or check out what you are presenting to them.

If all of your ads have the approved branding of the company you are an affiliate for or an approved advertising slogan that remains the same or company colors and the more individuals see your affiliate ads with the common theme branding, slogan, and colors it will build trust and confidence in their minds that this is legitmate company you represent as an affiliate.  An affective ad campaign that will have more conversions over time is when prospects and customers are able to recognize your affiliate ads with these branding elements that remain the same.  The trust and confidence this builds up will make prospects and customers more likely to buy into your affiliate product(s)/service(s) and to tell others without hesitation.  Building relationship with your prospects and customers in this way will get you loyal customers that will come back to buy more product(s)/service(s) and upgrade service(s).  This is a win-win because the customer is getting product(s)/service(s) that solve a problem and make their lives easier (less time consuming) and your affiliate business grows.

  • Know Your Audience - Remember if your affiliate product is great and solves a problem or problems for people saving them valuable time and benefiting their daily lives making it a must have product for them and your affiliate product is beneficial to different types of niche audiences then you will need different types of ads and blog posts that are tailored to each specific niche audience.  Always know your audience where your affiliate ad or blog post will be placed. You can find out more about each niche audience by doing your due diligence research.  Read blogs in the niche(s) your are interested in targeting to help you specifically craft your helpful professional affiliate blog posts, solo ads, email ads to each unique audience.  Pay attention to customer comments, profile pages, affiliate squeeze pages, and networking list contacts to get a good feel for how to approach  particular target niche audiences.

Don'ts

  • Do Not Hard Sell - People are tired of being confronted and bombarded with in your face annoying banners, popups, ads, all trying to force sell something.  People are fighting back and turning on popup blockers, ignoring ads, complaining about the instrusiveness of ads that block them from doing normal surfing and interacting with their friends online.  Those types of forced in your face agreesive ads with the flashing and jumping around, people tune it out and ignore it and they will go out of their way to avoid that brand and company. Therefore, your ad campaigns will be more effective and you will build up a more loyal customer/fan base that will readily recommend your affiliate product(s)/service(s) to others and will themselves come back to buy more product(s)/service(s) and to upgrade if you focus on benefits of your product in a more reasonable sensible approach that will win over your audience.  Be creative in your ad campaigns making them more prospect/customer friendly to build the trust and confidence relationship that will build your customer/fan base for the long-term. Pay attention to customer comments, profile pages, affiliate squeeze pages, and networking list contacts to get a good feel for how to approach  particular target niche audiences.

  • Automatically Assume Your Affiliate Ad Is Successful -

Monitor your affiliate ads and test new affiliate ads in a small ad campaign to see how the response rate is and keep tweeking your ads according to how well they are performing. Remember if you have an affiliate product(s)/service(s) that solves a problem(s) in several target markets, then each of those target markets (niches) will require different types of ads to appeal to that prospect/customer genre.  Always know your audience where your affiliate ad will be placed.  Test, test, and test.  Throw out/rewrite content that is not doing well.
